The reason this commemoration arose in September in Colombia was for purely commercial reasons. It was requested to move this celebration to September since February isn't as busy with commercial activities due to the Christmas and school holidays. That's the main reason! However, over time, it has become a strong Colombian tradition that not only celebrates love between couples, but also friendship.
